(Front / Rear wheel use)Description
This is the precision-engineered wheel speed sensor assembly that works with the motorcycle’s dual-channel ABS system to measure wheel rotation speed and feed that data to the ABS control module and instrument cluster. It is a plug-and-play replacement built to match OEM specifications for the 650 Twins.
Key Attributes
Function: Detects wheel rotation via magnetic pickup or hall sensor and sends pulses to ECU/ABS module
Location:
Front sensor: mounted on fork leg (typically LH).
Rear sensor: mounted on swingarm/caliper bracket near ABS tone‐ring.
Operating Voltage: 8 V to 16 V (as per general “wheel speed sensor” spec in service manual)
Temperature Range: −40 °C to +70 °C (sensor environment)
Compatibility: Works for ABS front and rear on 650 Twins – same sensor often used both ends.
Connector Type: OEM connector matching harness of the bike – ensure plug match when buying.
Installation: Bolt-on design (sensor body screws into mount), cable routed along fork or swing arm; gap to tone ring must be correct for accurate readings.
Common Symptoms when Faulty: Speedometer/odometer stops working, ABS light stays ON, erratic wheel speed readings, sensor codes appear in diagnostics.
Benefits
Restores correct functioning of speedometer/ODometer and ABS module.
Maintains safety via accurate ABS wheel speed input.
OEM fit ensures correct gap, mount position, harness connector and long-term reliability.
Relatively low cost compared to other ABS-module or wiring issues.
Fitment Notes
Confirm your bike’s model year (BS4 vs BS6) and ABS version – although part numbers above cover major variants.
Check old sensor’s part number and connector to avoid mismatch.
When replacing, ensure the tone ring (abs ring) is intact, sensor mounting bracket isn’t bent, and gap to ring meets spec.
After installation, perform a test ride and verify that the speedometer works, ABS light goes off, no error codes.
Torque the mounting bolt as per service manual
